‘COME TOGETHER’
Rosen calls for unity in netball, avoids talk of presidential candidacy
Netball administrator Karen Rosen says she will decide in the next couple of weeks whether she will be running for the post of president of Netball Jamaica (NJ) at its annual general meeting (AGM) on December 14.
NJ’s last AGM was held in 2021.
All positions in NJ, including the presidency and the directorship roles, are up for re-election this year. Incumbent President Tricia Robinson is serving her second term. Robinson has been at the helm of NJ since February 2020 when she succeeded Paula Daley-Morris, who led for four years.
Rosen, who has served as a NJ director with responsibility for marketing and sponsorship since 2021, is regarded by many in the netball fraternity as the likely candidate to lead the association.
However, she says will be making a decision on her future with the organisation in the next couple of weeks.
Rosen says netball needs all the support that it can get to ensure growth.
“The whole netball community needs to come together and that is all that I would say at this moment,” Rosen said.
Netball Jamaica First Vice-President Simone Forbes told the Jamaica Observer last week that she has yet to decide whether she will be running for the presidency.
“I still have some time,” she said. “There are several things I have to think about to see if I am able to commit to what comes with being a member of this board.”
