High praises for True Pet Expo

The recent True Pet Expo at Caymanas Polo Club was a vibrant gathering of families, pet enthusiasts, and industry professionals who enjoyed a full day of fun, community, and insights into the latest trends in pet care.

The event’s highlights included interactive panel discussions on engaging topics, expert advice from industry professionals, and grooming and training tips aimed at elevating pet care practices. Visitors browsed a lively marketplace where small businesses specialising in pet products and services showcased their offerings, adding a unique, hands-on experience to the day.

Phillip McKenley, who had just returned to Kingston, was thrilled to bring his dog Ruffles to the expo.

“I’m just coming in from the country, and I decided to bring Ruffles. He’s having the time of his life,” he said with a smile.

Another attendee, Malik, brought his Belgian Malinois for socialisation and to support the practitioners providing services to dogs.

“I own two dogs and am also a part of the Doberman Club of Jamaica. I’m here to show support and let my dog interact with others,” he shared.

For Peter, who brought his white Japanese Akita, the event was a fantastic first-time experience.

“I wanted my akita to have fun. He’s calm, playful, and having a great time. We’ll definitely be back next year,” he said.

Maureen, who attended with her daughter and their three-year-old Shih Tzu, appreciated the event’s expansive new venue.

“My daughter brought me here to give our Shih Tzu a fun day out. The larger space has made it such an enjoyable experience for everyone,” she commented.

Venice, the owner of a two-year-old Pomeranian-English cocker spaniel mix, found the expo to be ideal for socialising her pet.

“He doesn’t usually interact with other dogs, so I really appreciate this event. We came last year, and any chance he has to meet other dogs, we take it,” she said.

The True Pet Industry Awards was a major highlight, recognising outstanding individuals and organisations in pet care. The awardees included:

* Best Veterinarian: Dr Abigail Pinnock

* Top Dog Groomer: Renee’s Palace

* Outstanding Animal Boarding House: Renee’s Palace

* Exceptional Dog Trainer: Dontae Hamilton

* Exemplary Dog Breeder: Jalil Dabdoub

* Compassionate Dog Shelter/Charity: Montego Bay Animal Haven

* Top Feed Store (Sales): H&L Agro Montego Bay

* True’s Choice Award for Outstanding Contribution: Negril Spay & Neuter Clinic

“The event was fantastic. With our small team, we managed to execute something huge. People were thrilled to have a safe, enjoyable space where their dogs could socialise, and they could meet vendors, exhibitors, and other pet professionals. We’re just providing the platform for the community to come together,” a news release quotes True Pet Food Senior Manager Tina Hamilton.

She also emphasised True Pet Food’s commitment to Caribbean pet owners.

“We’re a Jamaican-owned brand, focused on the needs of Caribbean pet owners. Every day we work to meet those needs, from nutrition to community events. We take our customers seriously and are proud to serve them and their pets,” Hamilton said.

Renee’s Palace was a double winner, taking home awards for Top Dog Groomer and Outstanding Animal Boarding House. Here, Renee Francis (right) accepts one of the awards from Shevoneese McFarlane, digital sales and marketing coordinator, True Pet Food, at the True Pet Expo at Caymanas Polo Club.

The award for Compassionate Dog Shelter/Charity went to Montego Bay Animal Haven. The shelter’s Managing Director Sabria Hector (right) is seen receiving the award from Tina Hamilton, True Pet Food’s senior manager, at the recent True Pet Expo.
