Here he shares Power, from The Wit and Witticisms of Alverston Bailey.
POWER
By Dr Alverston Bailey
What pray, seems to consume many who are given the throttle of power?
The metamorphic change seems to occur almost every hour.
In their un-empowered state,
They are calm and sedate.
But!
When the reigns of power they hold,
The transformation is amazing to behold.
Their latent fears, jealousy and greed, come to the fore,
And all semblance of decency seems to have exited through the door.
Charity and compassion is now subsumed,
And mania and narcissism emerge in full bloom.
Blinded by power and irrationally enraged,
Power can cause you to be emotionally en-caged .
So !
If you are entrusted with power, handle it carefully, or, you, it will devour.
