Increased rainfall expected across Jamaica until Wednesday
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaicans can expect more rainfall over the coming days, according to the Meteorological Service of Jamaica (Met Service).
This, as the weather body monitors an area of disturbed weather across the southwestern Caribbean Sea which currently has a 30 per cent chance of becoming a tropical cyclone over the next 24 hours.
It said the system is forecast to move slowly northward then northwestward over the next day and be in the vicinity of Jamaica by Sunday night.
Regardless of development, the area of low pressure seems increasingly likely to bring unstable weather to Jamaica through to Wednesday evening, the Met Service said.
The Met Service’s forecast is for cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms which may be heavy at times, and strong gusty winds to affect sections of most parishes, especially eastern and south central parishes during this period.
Fishers and other marine interests should exercise extreme caution as sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers, thunderstorms and strong gusty winds.
