Anaconda celebrates Lucky Girls
Women from humble backgrounds who benefit from a helping hand are the focus of Lucky Girls , the latest song by Anaconda.
Produced by Earl Messam for Philadelphia-based Wildfire Records, it was released in early October.
“To see a girl come from a poor family grow up and find a man or guardian who help her improve her life is something I like to see. Dat’s what inspired Lucky Girls,” said Anaconda.
The Kingston-born singjay started his career in 2000. He was previously known as Wayne Worries, recording songs such as Mills & Boon.
The song is his first for Wildfire Records, which has made a name in ‘Philly’ Reggae circles promoting songs by veteran acts such as Roland Burrell and homegrown singer Princess Tia.
The Clarendon-born Messam has been in the music business since the 1980s. He migrated to the City of Brotherly Love late that decade but maintained his ties to the reggae scene in Jamaica.
In the past two years, Wildfire Records has released a series of lovers’ rock and roots-reggae songs by artistes including Burrell — best known for the hit singles Johnny Dollar and Stormy Night — and Ian Sweetness.
