PSOJ welcomes Sixt Car Rental to Norman Manley International
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The recent commencement of Sixt Rent a Car’s operations at the Norman Manley International Airport has convinced president of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, Metry Seaga, that the move is indicative of a strong investor confidence in the country.
Norman Manley International has become the second location for Sixt in the island, coming after their operation at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.
Montego Bay couple Orville Spence and his wife Nadine are the operators of Sixt Rent a Car Jamaica.
“The presence of this new Sixt location at our capital’s gateway sends a powerful message to arriving visitors and investors that Jamaica is open for business and we deliver service at global standards,” Seaga said. He added that the investment strengthens the nation’s tourism infrastructure and enhances “our ability to meet the sophisticated needs of both leisure and business travellers”.
Speaking at the official opening of the Sixt Car Rental at the Norman Manley International Airport on Monday, Seaga argued that the new outlet represents “the marriage of local enterprises with global standards that create opportunities that benefit our economy and our people”, an initiative which the PSOJ fully supports.
“The tourism sector is so vital to Jamaica’s economy, it requires world-class services, and Sixt’s presence here at Norman Manley shows what is possible when Jamaican businesses dream big,” Seaga said.
Sixt Caribbean and Latin America, director of operations, Hector Romano Jaensch, who along with Detleft Krehan, senior vice president, International Franchise, Sixt, were in the island for the official opening of the newest outlet, expressed pride in expanding the companies footprint in Jamaica.
“This expansion marks for us at Sixt, an exciting step forward to bring the brand all around Latin America and also the Caribbean region and bringing us closer together to the heart of the community and allowing us to serve travellers and locals in Kingston, but also in Montego Bay with a premium rental car experience,” Romano-Jaensch remarked.
The Spence couple described the new location as a realisation of their dreams.
“This is a highly capital-intensive business, but we don’t allow that to deter us or feel daunted because we have the experience, expertise, and know-how to ensure that this is executed. We don’t take our brand lightly; so much so that we have invited our children into the process,” Nadine said.
