Indie Allen sparks with Hall of Fame
Jamaican recording artiste Indie Allen has successfully whet the appetites of music lovers with the release of the second track off his upcoming EP.
Titled Hall of Fame, the song was published on October 9 as an ode to dancehall choreographers.
“The inspiration behind Hall of Fame came from the level of excellence I’ve seen exuded by female dancehall choreographers, namely Inspire, who has blazed a trail on the dance floor and made an impact globally for dancehall culture. I wanted to celebrate that excellence by celebrating her and other female dancers,” Allen told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash.
The track was produced by Allen, mixed by Travis “Trex” Bailey and mastered by Anchor Recording Studio.
The artiste explained how the song has taken off over the globe.
“Hall of Fame has sparked a worldwide dance challenge after partnering with the talented Inspire to create an amazing routine. We’ve seen over 100 submissions from over 20 countries so far, with dancers using the audio on social media to do the challenge. That’s a big deal in such a short space of time, with each expressing how amazing the track is. Listeners outside of the dance community share their love as well for the track via social media saying it’s their new favourite Indie Allen track and they love that it’s clean and it celebrates the women in dancehall,” he said.
Allen hails from St James where he attended Cornwall College before matriculating to the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, where he attained a bachelor’s in jazz and popular music studies, voice major.
The singer, who hopes to collaborate with Damian Marley and Ed Sheeran, will release the full-length EP, Oasis, on November 15.
“It consists of eight tracks which showcases a beautiful blend of dancehall and reggae music for old and new fans of the culture. The producers on the project are myself, Dretegs, Cardo Knox, Theo Tomplinson, and was mixed by Travis “Trex” Bailey & Demitri Thelwell, and mastered by Anchor Recording studio. I want this EP to bring back the joy in connection,” he said.
Allen noted that he envisions a long-term music career with bigger accomplishments.
“This EP is the first project that I am proud to say I have produced and that’s a big deal for me. I want to continue to evolve eventually even moving into the film industry making music for film and TV series, video games, et cetera. There’s no limit to what I believe I can accomplish, and I am blessed to say I have accomplished some pretty amazing things so far as an independent artist from sync deals with Disney to live performances in Europe and the US and I will continue to strive to become that better version of myself each day,” he told Splash.
