WATCH: Nigel departs Jamaica ahead of new IMF role
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke this morning departed from the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston to take up a deputy managing director post at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He is expected to take up the IMF job on October 31.
Clarke has spent the last six years as Jamaica’s Minister of Finance and the Public Service and Member of Parliament for St Andrew Northwestern. He has been serving as MP and finance minister since March 2018. During his term, he has implemented public sector reforms and has been credited with deepening Jamaica’s macroeconomic sustainability, especially through the COVID-19 pandemic.
