Proper road fixing programme needed!
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my frustration over the deteriorating conditions of our roads.
It seems that we have to wait far too long for projects to address these issues, while daily drivers navigate potholes and uneven surfaces that pose risks to safety and vehicle integrity.
In years past, we had dedicated maintenance crews in the Public Works Department who actively traversed our roads, armed with asphalt and tools to address problems as they arose. This proactive approach kept our infrastructure in better shape and ensured safer travel for all.
Today, it feels like we are in a perpetual cycle of waiting for large-scale projects that take time to implement.
While I appreciate the need for comprehensive solutions, we cannot overlook the immediate need for regular maintenance. Our roads are essential to our daily lives, and we should not have to suffer through poor conditions while we await fixes.
I urge local authorities to reinstate a more consistent maintenance programme that prioritises the upkeep of our roads. Let’s not wait for major projects; let’s take action now to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
We cannot wait for SPARK programme to be tendered, approved, and implemented before we are given or see any improvement.
