Jamaican teams stun on first day of SWAT Roundup International
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Jamaica’s SWAT teams delivered their finest opening day performance at the SWAT Roundup International in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday.
Competing against elite teams from around the globe, the Department of Weapons & Tactical Training (DWTT) Jamaica and JCF Specialised Operations represented the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) with distinction, displaying exceptional skill, discipline, and resilience that underscored months of dedicated preparation.
“In our performing better this year, I think it was owed to a little bit more preparation mentally, as well as physically. We had a few hiccups in training, but, the experience that we had before actually helped us with how we competed on Tuesday,” District Constable Sean Pierre said.
DWTT Jamaica emerged as the stronger of the two Jamaican teams, securing a respectable mid- tier ranking. Clocking a cumulative time of 12:12.54, they held their own against some of the world’s finest SWAT teams. In the Tower Scramble, they posted a time of 07:38.75, earning them 24 points and solidifying their competitive edge.
Meanwhile, they clocked 04:33.79 in the Pricher Scramble.
Entering the SWAT Roundup International for the first time, JCF Specialised Operations set an impressive precedent for their debut. With a total time of 22:24.60, they faced tougher challenges in both events, but their perseverance was evident. Their time of 11:34.38 in the Tower Scramble, while trailing the front-runners, demonstrated commendable resilience and determination.
In the Pricher Scramble, JCF Specialised Operations recorded a time of 10:50.22, underscoring the physical and tactical hurdles they overcame. This debut was bolstered by the support and guidance of DWTT Jamaica, whose members, familiar with the demands of SWAT Roundup International, were instrumental in helping their colleagues prepare for this rigorous event.
This feat placed DWTT second among the six international teams competing, with JCF Specialised Operations also making a strong debut, securing fourth place in the international rankings.
