Holness announces by-elections for Trelawny Southern, St Andrew North Western
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced by-elections for the Trelawny Southern and St Andrew North Western constituencies to be held on November 22 this year.
Nomination day is on Wednesday, November 6.
The vacancies follow the resignation of Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert and Dr Nigel Clarke. However, Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert will return as the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) representative for the Trelawny Southern seat.
Meanwhile by-elections were also announced for the Morant Bay and Aenon Town divisions.
The division vacancies follow the deaths of Jamaica Labour Party councillor Marjorie Mcleod and People’s National Party councillor Rohan Bryan.
“I encourage all eligible voters to exercise their constitutional right to vote and participate actively in the democratic process,” Holness said while addressing journalists at the Office of the Prime Minister on Wednesday.
