In a statement shortly after the incident, the school’s Principal Lavare Henry said: “With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we come together as a community of faith to share devastating news. Earlier today, we lost our second form student, Rashad Richards, as a result of a tragic accident on our campus. Our hearts and prayers go out to Rashad’s parents, family, and all who hold him dear during this unimaginably difficult time.”
“In times of such deep loss, we draw strength from our faith and from each other. As an Ignatian community, we are called to be men and women for others, and now, more than ever, we must support one another with love, compassion and prayer,” Henry added.
The principal said the guidance department, supported by counsellors from other institutions and the chaplaincy team, will hold special sessions for the students in Richards’ class, his teachers, members of the rugby team, and other students who were present at the time of the accident.
“May God’s infinite love comfort us all in our grief, and may he grant eternal light and peace to Rashad,” Henry said.
