WATCH: Negative polls providing push for Labourities, says Holness
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Leader Prime Minister Andrew Holness has declared that the latest public opinion polls, which show the party heading for defeat if elections are called now, are good for his party.
Holness, who is seeking to lead the JLP to a record third successive victory in the next general election constitutionally due by September 2025, was addressing Labourities at an Area Council One meeting at the Pembroke Hall Community Centre Monday night.
In the meeting, which was broadcast live on radio and through social media, Holness pointed out that he pays attention to every poll but has never commented publicly on them.
“And I won’t start commenting on polls [now] because I remember the polls that said I couldn’t be leader of the party. I remember the polls that said we couldn’t win in 2016. I remember all of the polls that we proved them wrong. But I am happy that the polls are saying what they are saying, you know why, because it has stirred up the Labourities,” declared Holness.
“Some a unnu was sleeping, some a unnu get comfortable, some a unnu just a tek a easy ride, but it is now time that every Labourite in Jamaica, every well thinking Jamaican, must rise to their feet and support good Government,” added Holness.
According to JLP Leader, he wants the polls to continue in their present trend as this will push JLP supporters to do even more work.
“Don’t sit down and believe that because we have good Government that everybody knows and understand, ignorance is still in the land,” said Holness.
