Fun galore at Scream Halloween party
It was full house at The University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Bowl last Friday night as university students flocked the venue for the third staging of Scream, the annual Halloween party, promoted by Hourz Entertainment.
Patrons came dressed in several character costumes, animals, insects, and professions — from construction workers to butterflies, goats, ladies of the night, Shakespearean outfits, nurses, the devil, and ship captains.
But the music stood out for the night. With a cadre of DJs, including DJ Mac x Baba, DJ Vinchi x Fyahman, Juggling Masters, DJ Breeze x Jubba, and the emerging TZ, the musical vibrations held patrons spellbound as they danced the night away.
From dancing tunes, ‘bad man’ tunes, and songs for the ladies, there was something for everyone.
The experienced DJ Vinchi started off his set with a Halloween favourite, Michael Jackson’s Billboard Hot 100 #4 hit Thriller, which was well received, before moving into current chartbuster The Comet by Vybz Kartel, Kesha’s We’re Gonna Die Young, Chris Brown’s Yeah 4x, and Icana Pop’s I Love It (I Don’t Care).
DJ Mac’s set was blazing hot as he teased with Vybz Kartel’s Bike Back, Unch It by Roze Don, Kraff’s Round and Round, among other treats.
Jugglin Masters with JJ Deadlock and Insaneo whipped up the crowd into a frenzy with bite-sized nuggets such as Saweetie’s Icy Girl, Chris Brown’s Loyal, Jack Harlow’s
Loving Me, and Nicki Minaj’s High School.
For DJ Breeze, he easily held his own mixing things up with local and foreign hits such as You Belong To Me by Taylor Swift, Headlines by Drake, Holiday by Ding Dong,
Know Bout Me by Vybz Kartel, and Amen by Gaza Kym.
A patron who attends the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech), who gave her name as Stacy, shared:
“I had to step out like the baddest, you know, because I know my outfit looks good. It was actually inspired by The Pirates of the Caribbean film,” the second-year computer science student shared.
