Peter and Christina Edwards to launch solo albums in Ontario
Former Digicel Rising Stars competitor-turned-gospel recording artiste Peter Edwards and his wife Christina will launch their solo albums on Saturday, November 16 at an event dubbed Double Impact: 2 Albums in one night, at Miracle Arena For All Nations on Weston Road, Woodbridge, Ontario.
Peter’s album, which is entitled Holy One, is his sophomore project, while Christina’s album, It is Jesus, is her début project.
“This album launch is geared towards the youthful generation, and those who don’t know Christ, so I have eight rappers who will be performing at the concert, as well as dancers and singers. It’s gonna be a night to remember and I’m looking to have at least 800 people in attendance,” Peter told the Jamaica Observer on Friday.
The couple, who got married in Jamaica, have resided in Canada for the past 13 years.
Asked what led to their decision to launch both albums at the same event, Peter said: “We are a couple, but separate artistes. We both had our albums ready at the same time. And this is the season we normally do a concert. So, instead of having two separate concerts, why not launch two albums in one night? People have been asking and waiting on us to drop new music.”
Holy One has 10 tracks. Peter said he wrote and produced all the songs on his project, while sharing co-writing credits on his wife’s album.
His début album, Bold As A Lion, was released physically in 2022; however, the new album will also be available on streaming platforms.
Holy One’s tracks include God Will Confuse Your Enemy, Nobody Can Compare to Jesus, Prayer, More Than This (featuring Christina), All I Want is You, My Heart is For You, and I’m a Chosen Vessel.
On Monday, October 28, Edwards will release the non-album single Prayer.
Christina’s album contains the title track as well as Yahweh Amen, Chosen Vessel, Your Presence, More Than This, When the Saints Go to Worship, and Praise the Lord.
Peter was a member of the group Q, which competed in the 2005 edition of Digicel Rising Stars. The group made it to the top 10.
He later gave his life to Christ. It was in the church that he met his wife.
“We both grow up in the church, but I went into secular music then came back to the faith. I started to pursue a career in gospel music in 2014, but got the drive after meeting my Pastor Dr Prophet Kofi Danso and Dr Joanna Danso. They both encouraged me to do it,” said Peter, who is originally from Kitson Town in St Catherine.
Christina is from Green Acres in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
