Man charged after alleged glass bottle assault on woman
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 32-year-old labourer has been charged with assault after allegedly hitting a woman with a glass bottle during a dispute on Thursday, September 19.
According to police reports, Dwight Williams, also known as ‘Zappa,’ of Rodney Street, Kingston 12, was engaged in an argument with a woman when a relative intervened.
Williams reportedly left the scene but later returned with a glass bottle, which he allegedly threw at the woman. The bottle reportedly shattered upon impact, causing an injury.
Williams then reportedly pulled a firearm from his waistband and threatened to kill her. The woman’s cell phone was also reportedly destroyed during the altercation.
A report was made, and Williams was later apprehended. He was charged on Thursday, October 24, following a question-and-answer session. In addition to assault charges, he faces charges of unlawful wounding and malicious destruction of property.
A court date for him is being finalised.
