What a Ruption!!
With a line-up comprising popular DJs as well as known dancehall acts, the party Ruption certainly delivered the goods last Saturday night.
Held at The Cove on Winchester Avenue in Half-Way-Tree, Ruption was a sold-out affair.
Promoted by Ruption Entertainment (Jayden Deans, Rhece Kennedy, and Darion James), it attracted a mostly teenaged and university demographic.
Currently riding high with his comeback hit 1Rifle, deejay Najeeriii could do no wrong as he ran through hit after hit. Patrons were truly appreciative.
Popcaan was in the house, supporting his brother, dancehall act Natebadz, who impressed with songs including Life Set and Warrior. He also previewed a new song
Bim Bim, which got a warm reception.
Soun Bwoi delivered his breakthrough viral hit Pump Up to positive reaction from the crowd.
DJs Kevi The Kinetic, Zacky, Stepho, Deva Kidd, JJ Deadlock of Juggling Masters, and Kryptic whipped the crowd into overdrive as they dropped hit tunes.
Kevi The Kinetic, armed with his MC Kre Kre, had the crowd going wild with Inferno by RajahWild, Mobster by Bayka, Shub Out and Big Breeze by Squash, and No Cap by new sensation Eddy G Bomba.
Kryptic threw in some R&B and hip hop treats to add to the feast.
Deva Kidd, alongside Fyah 105 FM’s MC Fyahman, rode high with Javo Donn’s summer hit Wuff Wuff, Bayka’s Sinna Life, and Ding Dong’s Let Him Guh.
JJ Deadlock’s set comprised some older hits such as Gal a Bubble by Konshens, Fi Di Jockey by Aidonia, Ooh La La La by Squash and Money Fever.
This is the second staging of Ruption. The first was held in August at 100 on Hope Road.
“We came up with the idea for Ruption because me and my crew wanted to start an event for everyone and for everyone to come out and have a good time. This staging went very well for us, but it could’ve been better. I’m also very happy that most patrons came dressed in Halloween costumes and that they also enjoyed themselves. The next one will definitely be bigger and better,” Deans told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash.
