Mark Golding set to engage Jamaican-Canadian Diaspora in Toronto
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Leader of the Opposition and President of the People’s National Party (PNP), Mark Golding will visit Toronto from October 30 to November 1, 2024 to connect with the Jamaican-Canadian diaspora as part of his ongoing engagement efforts.
According to the PNP, the visit under the theme, “Vision for Jamaica’s Future – Engagement with the Diaspora”, underscores what it says is Golding’s commitment to strengthening ties with Jamaicans abroad who serve as cultural ambassadors and advocate for meaningful change.
The PNP said, since becoming Opposition leader in 2020, Golding has embarked on a series of overseas engagements recognising that, with nearly as many Jamaicans residing outside the island as within it, the diaspora plays an essential role in Jamaica’s development. This visit will build on Golding’s previous visits to the United States and the United Kingdom in 2022.
The highlights of the visit will include a town hall meeting at the Jamaican Canadian Centre on October 30 where attendees will have the opportunity to engage in an open discussion about Jamaica’s future and the role of the diaspora in shaping that future.
This will be followed by an evening of cocktails and dinner at the Westin Toronto Airport on November 1.
Both events are open to the public but require registration which can be completed here.
