St Mary farmer shot dead while visiting girlfriend
ST MARY, Jamaica — A 61-year-old farmer from Enfield, St Mary was shot and killed on Monday, while visiting his girlfriend in Iterboreale, Annotto Bay.
Dead is Michael “Mickey Lumley.
The incident took place around 7:15 pm while the deceased was reportedly sitting in the yard. It is alleged that a silver Toyota Axio motor car stopped at the gate, two men alighted from the vehicle, entered the yard and approached Lumley. The gunmen then reportedly opened fire hitting him in his left shoulder before escaping in the waiting motorcar.
Lumley was taken to the Annotto Bay hospital where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured in the attack.
It is believed that Lumley’s murder is as a result of gang violence in the area.
Including Lumley’s death, there have been 24 murders in the Annotto Bay Division since the start of the year.
“We are seeing some reduction; however, four murders are still a cause for concern,” new commanding officer for the parish Deputy Superintendent Wallace told Observer Online.
