Police constable succumbs to injuries following St James hit-and-run
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The police constable who was critically injured in a hit-and-run earlier this month has succumbed to his injuries.
Police confirmed that Constable Linroy Codner passed away at the hospital on Sunday morning.
Codner was injured during a roadblock operation on the Granville main road in St James on Friday, October 4.
Reports indicate that an officer signalled a white Toyota Probox to stop. The vehicle slowed down but then accelerated, hitting the constable and sending him over a precipice estimated to be 50-70 feet deep.
The constable was rescued from the precipice in an unconscious state. He was taken to the hospital by members of the police team where he was admitted in a serious but stable condition.
