Wine N Chill bringing ‘elegance and sophistication’ to Diaspora’s events calendar
Promoters of Wine N Chill will say cheers in Fairfield, Connecticut on November 3, as that New England town hosts the event which focuses on fine liqueur.
Jamaican Jerry McDonald, principal of Wine N Chill, told Observer Online that most Caribbean events in the United States, involve music and cuisine from back home. This gives fans an opportunity to experience something different.
“We don’t have enough wine events in the Diaspora, it is an area that remains untouched. We (Caribbean people) are big consumers of wine and I believe it adds an element of elegance and sophistication to our event space,” he said.
While wine is its focal point, Wine N Chill will have music and food, which are staples of Caribbean shows, especially in the tri-state area where McDonald has promoted events since 2016 through his company, Bleu And Bougie.
Most of those gigs take place in New York City, but for his latest venture McDonald chose Fairfield, an idyllic town with a population of just over 60,000. It borders Bridgeport, Connecticut’s largest city which has a strong West Indian presence.
McDonald, who was raised “between St Ann, Manchester and St Elizabeth”, is expecting a diverse turnout to Wine N Chill.
“We are targeting on social media, not just Jamaican/ Caribbean nationals living in Connecticut but patrons from New York, New Jersey and surrounding communities. It is gonna be an amazing presentation,” he said.
