Zamunda back from ‘great experience’
Roots singer Zamunda describes his maiden solo shows in Europe during the summer as “a really great experience” that sets the tone for more shows there soon.
The artiste did seven shows in Finland, Austria and Germany.
“All the shows were well-received, wi always try an’ do wi best at di appointed time. Di people love reggae music, love di vibes an’ energy,” he told the Jamaica Observer. “Wi jus’ bring dat experience to dem an’ di whole vibrations.”
The club gigs comprised two shows in Helsinki, Finland, three in Vienna, Austria, and one each in Hannover and Berlin, Germany. They heard Zamunda doing songs from Jah Love Surround Me, his second album, which was released in early 2023.
Jah Love Surround Me contains Jah Love Remix (with Dre Island Popcaan) as swell as collaborations with Capleton, Anthony B, Jah Cure and Louie Culture.
Zamunda disclosed that favourable response to the shows have prompted another round of European dates in the winter, and possibly next summer on reggae festivals in Belgium, France and Germany.
From Claremont district in St Ann, Zamunda was born Christopher Gayle. He has been recording songs for 20 years, with Scripts And Scrolls, his first album, released in 2016.
In addition to promoting Jah Love Surround Me, Zamunda has released covers of Sonny and Cher’s I Got You Babe (with Macka Diamond) and Chris Brown’s Angel Numbers (as Energy) this year. The latter is produced by Natures Way Entertainment, a Florida-based company which also manages his career.
