Sara Cowan Conner to speak at COTR anniversary
Pastor and recording artiste Sara Cowan Conner will be returning to Jamaica to be a keynote speaker during Church on the Rock Kingston’s 40th anniversary celebration between October 20-27.
The speaker, who released the track Build Now in 2022 and is finalising her first album, is the daughter of impresario Tommy Cowan.
“I got born again at Church on the Rock as a teenager. I was a part of their teenage group… it’s almost like a coming home for people who were changed by the teenage ministry and then we grew up and became ministers, pastors, and spiritual leaders,” Cowan-Conner, who is now based in the United States, told Observer Online.
She will be speaking on October 25 at the Ignition Youth Summit, as well as the following day at an initiative dubbed ‘Church on the Rock Summit Series: Leadership Conversations.’ Her brother, Pastor Che Cowan, will also be speaking at the latter.
Last October, Cowan Conner joined the ZEAL Christian Ministry for a series held in Club MECA, Marketplace, on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.
She has been dedicated to getting through to youths, without judgement, and looks forward to passing on the same principles that she learnt in her former years at the upcoming summits.
“I’m very, very excited because my entire life trajectory changed because of a youth meeting… that church really changed my life, so, I’m looking forward to really be back speaking in the very building (that) I got born again in,” she said.
Cowan Conner got her Certificate in Biblical Studies at Caribbean Christ for the Nations, Jamaica; a Certificate in Missions Studies at Christ for the Nations, Dallas, Texas; a Bachelors in Christian Education from Jacksonville Theological Seminary; and Masters in Christian Education from Jacksonville Theological Seminary. She also served as a missionary in South Africa in 1994 during the election of President Nelson Mandela.
