Ghost to headline return of Lovers’ Leap series
With recovery from the passage of Hurricane Beryl back in July, which caused the postponement of the Lovers’ Leap Lighthouse Series in St Elizabeth, all things are now in motion for the October 26 staging of the event.
This installation will be headlined by dancehall veteran Ghost.
“The patronage has been overwhelming. Thus far, tickets are near sold out. The community has been really supportive of the new project and continues to support the process. We are looking forward to an amazing event,” Jason Ricketts, marketing and promotional manager of Lovers’ Leap attraction, told the Jamaica Observer.
The second staging in the series was originally slated for July 13. However, St Elizabeth was one of the hardest-hit parishes following the hurricane. A preliminary assessment was calculated to be just over a hundred million for designated heritage sites located in the parish.
Lovers’ Leap was significantly destroyed, and stakeholders have been joining efforts to rehabilitate the structure. A temporary solution will also be launched on the day of the concert.
“We started to create a temporary fixture in our parking lot the day after the hurricane passed, which turned out an amazing entertainment space. We called it Beryl Lounge, which will be officially opened on the evening of October 26,” Ricketts said.
In the meantime, the headliner is said to be pulling out all the stops to make his debut at the series.
“Ghost has been rehearsing and creating waves on social media. He is really excited to perform in St Elizabeth and spoke highly of the people and their commitment to resilience. He has a special surprise for the ladies,” Ricketts continued.
Ghost’s given name is Carlton Hylton. He got his break in the late 1980s as part of the duo Ghost and Culture and is best known as a member of the Monster Shack Crew, which also comprised Round Head and General B.
Ghost’s large catalogue of hits include So Strong, Do You Believe, If Walls Could Talk, Number Two, East Side, and Love You.
