Is God true to His promises?
DO you want God to do what you want, or do you want to do what God wants of you? Do you want wealth, power and security? Or do you want a life of humility, sacrifice and servanthood to God and our neighbour?
You will be great in the eyes of God if you are selfless, totally dedicated to God and the least of our brothers and sisters. Then you will be blessed, given everything that you need, and raised up as one of the most blessed of all peoples on the earth. As Psalm 103 says: “Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not His benefits/
He forgives all my sins
He heals all my diseases
He redeems my life from destruction
He crowns me with love and kindness.”
How good it is to be blessed by the Lord! How good it is to be favoured by Him! How good it is to be loved by Him! I could not bear the thought of losing His special blessings and kindness to me.
I look at our recent production, Isaiah. I think of our Missionaries of the Poor (MOP), friends, associates, benefactors I know that God has sent in my last 52 years of works with the poor, and music productions — whether for worship, concerts, or theatrical presentation.
We had no idea how this Jamaican opera Isaiah would be mounted. The brothers, the associates, and myself asked the Lord, “Should we do it?” and He replied, “Do it and trust in me.”
Where would we get the location? The Lord pointed us to Major Desmond Brown at National Arena; he said “Yes.” Then we asked the question: “Where would we get the 4,000 chairs?” The Lord said, “Ask Dave Grant from Kingston Hireage.” He said “Yes, to help the poor I will give you everything free of cost for the rent.”
Next we asked the question, “Where would we get the immense stage, the sophisticated lights, and the sound equipment?” Richard Bare from Main Event answered, “Yes, I will do it Father — anything for the poor that you serve. Do you have Robin and Ryan to help you?”
“Yes, we do”.
Kevin Demercado from Phoenix Printery, along with the Art Printery, took care of all the printed materials.
There are so many more who made possible this wonderful, God-made production. So many sponsors gave financial help for the service of the poor. Many thousands of spectators — both children and adults — regarded and experienced the spirit of God in this magnificent presentation done by the singers, dancers, actors, and technicians who worked hard for hundreds of hours to make this presentation of Isaiah a gift from God and to God for His beloved poor.
All I can say is, “Thank you, Lord. Thank you for the benefactors, thank you for the artistes, thank you for the spectators, and thank you for the poor. I believe that all five performances were inspired by the presence of the Holy Spirit. The National Arena was transformed into a holy temple of the Lord. As the psalmist tells us:
“It causes us to have genuine gratitude for the Lord and to praise Him
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and enter His courts with praise
Be thankful to Him and bless His name
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good and His love endures forever.”
