Foster’s fiery form continues at Caymanas Park
TEVIN Foster’s scorching hot streak showed no signs of abating on Saturday as the title-chasing jockey stole the limelight with four impressive victories on the 10-race programme.
Foster’s phenomenal October continued to gather momentum with the jockey dominating the competition and solidifying his position as one of the hottest riders at Caymanas Park.
The highlight of Foster’s quartet of winners was Jason DaCosta’s Himaya who captured the $1.05-million Reggae Skanking Trophy during race two of series three in the BGLC/TOBA Millionaire Series. Himaya’s triumph earned owner Elizabeth DaCosta a $2-million bonus.
Himaya impressed in the maiden special weight contest for native-bred three-year-olds, winning by 3¾ lengths over seven furlongs (1,400m) in a time of 1:30.1.
Foster’s other winners included Brompton Alex for trainer Phillip Lee in the $800,000 Reggae Roots Rocking Trophy; Miss MoneyPenny, also trained by DaCosta, in the $1.09-million Princess Popstar Trophy; and Princess Ria for trainer Omar Williams in the $750,000 Reggae Rocksteady Trophy.
With the four victories Foster’s October tally now stands at nine winners in just three race days. He maintains a four-length lead in the jockeys’ standings with 108 wins, ahead of Raddesh Roman’s 104. Roman was winless on the day.
Fearless Soul, trained by Philip Feanny and ridden by Paul Francis, upset his more-fancied rivals in the $1.4-million Harlequin Trophy, an Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over five furlongs straight. Fearless Soul defeated Sensational Move by a length in 59.3.
