Miss MoneyPenny a safe bet in Princess Popstar Trophy
The highly-rated juvenile Miss MoneyPenny returns to action, facing four rivals in the sixth running of the $1.09-million Princess Popstar Trophy on tomorrow’s 10-race card.
The Restricted Allowance I contest, for native-bred and imported two-year-olds (non-winners of three), will be run over 5½ furlongs (1,100m).
Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide examines each runner’s chances.
1. SASH IT: (2 dk b/br f by Gamble’s Exchange – Desdemona
) — Finished third behind Lovisa and Unspun over 4 furlongs (800m) on September 28. With Unspun in the field, Sash It’s winning chances are slim.
2. MISS MONEYPENNY: (2 ch f by Bern Identity – Pomeroy’s Secret) — Impressed on debut, winning over 3 furlongs (600m) on August 1 by 4¾ lengths in 34.4 seconds. Training well for her second outing, Miss MoneyPenny should easily take this contest. Note: First-time Lasix.
3. UNSPUN: (2 dk b/br c by Spun to Run – U Needa Ride) — Debuting second behind Lovisa over 3 furlongs on Septemer 28. Unspun is expected to perform well going longer.
4. BURNING HEDGE: (2 ch f by Hedge Fund – Burning Clearance) — Successful debut on September 14, winning by 4¼ lengths in 48.3 over 4 furlongs. Expect a strong effort from Burning Hedge here.
5. FLAG OF VICTORY (CAN): (2 ch f by Point of Entry – Run the Flag) — No chance.
