Brotha George ‘thankful’ over Grammy consideration
For the second straight year, gospel artiste Brotha George has an album earmarked for a Grammy Award. His Mindset is among 75 albums up for consideration in the Best Reggae Album category.
Last year, the singer’s Firm And Strong was in a similar position but did not make the final cut.
“I am thankful it happened again. Along with my co-producers, I make music that comes from the heart. Making this music is not triggered by such achievements as the Grammys, but by singing to the message that the Good Lord has given me the energy and strength,” said Brotha George.
Released in August, Mindset has 10 songs including the title track, Endurance and Never Give Up. He stated that while the message of God is the same, there is a difference in approach from Firm And Strong.
“This album was written while I was doing shows and concerts and seeing the way of the world today. It gave me the vibes to write songs that cover many different life situations affecting the general public,” Brotha George explained.
Some of the albums up for consideration are Bob Marley: One Love (soundtrack to the hit movie), The Gentle Man by Romain Virgo, Nectar of The Gods from Etana and I Am Chippy by Teejay.
The period of eligibility for albums/songs for Grammy consideration is September 16 2023 to August 30 2024. Nominees for the 2025 Grammys will be announced on November 8, with the event taking place February 2 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
