The gospel according to Singer J
Having made an impact in the dancehall space with songs such as Wave Yuh Hand and Can’t Stop Me Now, recording artiste Singer J is gearing up to release a gospel album.
The album, which is scheduled for a January 2025 release, is titled I Love You Lord.
The project is a joint production between Singer J’s Sol Records and JJ Wizzle.
“I’m a strong believer in God, I never leave God out of anything I’m doing, so it was only right for me to give him thanks and praise with a full body of work,” Singer J told the
Jamaica Observer recently.
In May, when he released the album Tribute to Bob Andy, Singer J decided that he wanted to continue the musical legacy that Andy, his late uncle, had created. He later embarked on a series of shows overseas to promote the album.
“The promo tour actually started in May when the album was released. My team did a release party in Queens, New York, and it was a good look. I did around eight club shows from New York to Boston, Hartford in Connecticut, Baltimore and Philadelphia. I also made an appearance at Marcia Griffiths’ 60 years in reggae celebration show in Florida,” Singer J stated.
Tribute to Bob Andy contains 10 songs. The project sees the artiste putting his own spin on classics such as I’ve Got to Go Back Home, My Time, Too Experience, Fire Burning, Unchained, among others.
“I’m honoured to be carrying on the great legacy of my uncle, Bob Andy, highlighting his contributions to our genre and making sure the legend’s name lives on,” he stated.
