DJ Teddy makes impressive debut with ‘once again’ project
Emerging producer-disc jockey DJ Teddy is enthused about his just-released rhythm compilation project, Once Again, which is generating excitement both locally and internationally with buzz-worthy songs by a collection of established and emerging reggae stars.
“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. DJ’s locally and internationally are saying that the rhythm is a true representation of lovers rock reggae with Ginjah, George Nooks and Bescenta added to their playlist,” DJ Teddy, whose real name is Tedroy Gordon, said.
International reggae artiste Ginjah leads out the Once Again Riddim with the title track Once Again, a bonafide reggae love song with R&B stylings. Reggae star Bescenta’s impressive ‘Signs of the Times’ speaks to the culture of political and financial corruption that relegates a segment of the Jamaican population to the abject poverty that often triggers gang violence.
Singer George Nooks shows up on the project with the romantic ‘Last Day’ with his ardent but fantastical promises of “I am gonna love you for life” that women like to hear. There are also great contributions from singers Karl Morrison, Roslyn Reid, Frighty and Carl Melody.
“No video has been released as yet but I am thinking about a video medley for the project by year end,” DJ Teddy said.
DJ Teddy began his career in 2003 as a host and MC with JWERKS Media, owned by Jerry D. His journey into broadcasting gained momentum when he started working as a backup co-host for the RJR Cross Country Invasion Road Show.
He was an emceee on the RJR Cross Country Road Show in 2005, a role he held with distinction until 2017. That year DJ Teddy transitioned to Irie FM, where he became the voice behind two beloved shows. On Saturday mornings, from 2am to 6am, he hosted Free Up Saturdays, and on Sundays, he brought a soothing vibe to the airwaves with the Cool Vibe Show, encouraging listeners to share their “Irie Sunday Dinner” stories.
In recent years, DJ Teddy has expanded his career into music production. He regards the Once Again Riddim project as an impressive debut.
“This is my first project and already, I am getting a positive feedback that it is creating an impact here and overseas. Carl Melody’s song titled “Broken Heart” is getting a lot of airplay in the United Kingdom and Africa, while Roslyn Reid’s ‘Paid the Price’ is getting heavy rotation in Trinidad and Tobago. Ginjah, George Nooks and Karl Morrison are streaming well globally. I am really pleased,” DJ Teddy said.
He is gearing up to release new projects in the first quarter of 2025.
