Digital One targets ‘Jolly Man’ Memorial Trophy for back-to-back wins
A talented field of 12 runners is set to clash in this afternoon’s $1.25-million Vassell “Jolly Man” Najair Memorial Trophy, with three-year-old American-bred filly Digital One headlining the charge in the main attraction on the nine-race card.
After breaking her winless drought with a convincing 4 ¼-length victory over stablemate Money Market over five furlongs (1,000m) round on September 15,
Digital One aims to make it two in a row here. The filly’s return to form sets her up as the one to beat in the Overnight Allowance contest over five and a half furlongs (1,100m).
Trained by Gary Subratie, Digital One has shown remarkable resilience and determination and should win again.
However, Digital One faces stiff competition from a talented field, including Money Monster, Milos, Money Market, and Perfect Brew.
The contest is positioned as the ninth and final event on the day with a post time of 5:20 pm. First race is at high noon.
Money Monster’s impressive second-place finish to Pack Plays over six and a half furlongs (1,300m) on September 21 demonstrates his ability to contend. Despite the shorter distance, Money Monster’s stamina should serve him well, making him a viable contender.
Consistent performer Milos has already proven his mettle against Digital One, defeating her over seven furlongs (1,400m) on June 29. If he replicates that effort, Milos could upset the favourite once again.
Money Market’s grit and determination make him a force to be reckoned with. After finishing second behind Digital One last time out, Money Market returns in good form, seeking revenge and to potentially turn the tables on his rival.
Perfect Brew’s below-par performance behind Pack Plays and Money Monster on last outing may have been an aberration. Training well and with minimal pressure,
Perfect Brew is a dark horse contender capable of springing a surprise.
These contenders are ready to challenge Digital One’s dominance. Will one of them pull off an upset, or will the favourite maintain her momentum?
