Manhunt launched for suspect in police hit-and-run
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The St James police have turned their attention to locating Dillion Reid otherwise called “Bulby” and “CJ” who is believed to be responsible for injuring a policeman in a hit-and-run on Friday afternoon.
In a statement the police say that Reid is believed to be the person driving the motor car “that mowed down a police constable in Granville, St James,” around 3:10pm.
The police say they are continuing their efforts to locate Reid, whom they say is a resident of Blackshop, Amity Hall, in the parish.
Reid is wanted for seriously injuring the police constable, who is now hospitalised in a critical state.
According to head of the St James police, superintendent Eron Samuels, the police on Friday, were conducting a roadblock exercise along the Granville main road in the vicinity of St Johns when one officer signalled a white Toyota Probox to stop.
“The Probox slowed down and upon reaching close to the police officer, the driver sped up hitting the cop and sending him over a precipice said to be 50-70 feet deep,” Samuels revealed.
The constable was rescued from the precipice in an unconscious state. He was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital by members of the police team where he is now in a serious but stable condition.
The police theorised that the car, at the time, was transporting illegal weapons.
They are seeking the public’s help in locating Reid.
