Damiedon calls on ‘Yahweh’
When in doubt, Damiedon calls on the higher being who he was taught from early, determines destiny. He gives thanks to the Saviour on Yahweh, his latest song.
Recently released, the single is produced by Andre “Dretegs” Hawthorne, his younger brother, who has produced songs by acts such as Jesse Royal, Chi Ching Ching and Dre Island.
Damiedon said he wants Yahweh’s diverse chord patterns to show God is with you no matter the situation.
“The ominous sound was definitely intentional. Life can often feel heavy and uncertain, and I wanted the song to capture that emotional tension. The darker, more haunting tones represent those moments when it feels like the world is against you, when criticisms and despise weigh heavily on you,” he said. “However, underneath that ominous sound is a thread of hope and assurance that echoes throughout the song—reflecting how, despite life’s darkness, God’s presence provides a guiding light. This sonic contrast was designed to mirror the experience of faith: even when things look bleak, there’s an underlying promise of hope and protection.”
The New York-based artiste, whose real name is Damion Hawthorne, noted that of all the projects he and Dretegs have worked on, Yahweh is special to him.
“It marks a significant moment for me as I finally shared a song that had been in my heart for years,” said Damiedon.
