CAG Family spreading the gospel across the nation
KINGSTON, Jamaica -When the CAG Family (Child A God) was formed 13 years ago, the group’s mission was to spread the gospel throughout the nation.
Despite several challenges that the group has faced, members believe that mission has been achieved.
“We bring a vibrant blend of music that caters to all. It has been challenging as a group, however, having good support makes the journey feel rewarding and purposeful,” leader of the group and vocalist Clayon Henry told Observer Online on Friday.
CAG Family comprises five performing acts, however, there are other supporting members. They include: Britney Blake, Trudi-Ann Vernon, Annakay Scarlett and Annesia Sawyer.
To date, the act has released an EP titled Yahweh’s Grace.
The six-track EP was released in May last year via JAW Records and it features Party, Answer, Grace and Love featuring Deejay Sticko.
The group has over the past year released the songs Yahweh and Grace, which have been warmly received by the local gospel community.
CAG Family is nominated for Group of the Year in the 2024 Sterling Gospel Music Awards. Also, in that category are H.U.M.B.L.E., Levy’s Heritage and Perpetual Sounds of Praise.
“This is not the first time that we have been nominated. We were nominated two years ago. But it’s a good feeling to know that we are being recognised for the hard work that we’ve put in over the years. The nomination signifies growth, development and progress,” said Henry.
CAG Family is scheduled to release a new single, Obedience, later this week.
The Sterling Gospel Music Awards is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 5 at the Emmanuel Apostolic Church on Slipe Road in Kingston.
