‘Attitude Fest’ a morale boost for Sandals South Coast team members
SANDALS South Coast recently concluded its highly anticipated two-day ‘Attitude Fest’, an internal initiative aimed at enhancing guest services and increasing employee morale.
Recognising the importance of maintaining a motivated and cohesive team, learning and development manager at the resort, Tevin Simpson, designed the workshop to address this need head-on, ensuring that the resort continues to deliver exceptional guest services.
“Attitude Fest was designed to foster positive energy, strengthen team cohesion, and directly improve the guest experience. We are always focused on improving our team members, not just professionally but also honing their personal growth, and this event offered knowledge they will be able to apply in both areas of their lives,” said Simpson.
In the lead-up to the workshop, departments were tasked with creating videos in line with the current viral Demure Challenge that has been making rounds on social media. These videos captured how they offer exceptional and classy services to their guests whilst piquing the interest of the team.
Over the two-day workshop, participants engaged in a variety of interactive activities, storytelling sessions, and practical exercises.
Key elements of the event included presenters who guided the team members through the use of a specially designed tool kit to demonstrate how positive attitudes can lead to better behaviour and outcomes in real-life guest service scenarios, motivational stories of resilience shared by industry leaders, and activities focused on self-discovery and personal reflection.
The workshop was met with enthusiasm and positive engagement from team members across all departments. Many expressed appreciation for the opportunity to reflect on their roles and how their attitudes directly impact their guests’ experiences.
“The personal stories shared by presenters struck a chord with us and has inspired and motivated me to have a fresh outlook on my work, department, and resort in general and how one person can, even in the smallest ways, create big impact,” added front desk agent at the resort Demesha Adams.
According to General Manager O’Brian Heron, “Attitude Fest is expected to have a lasting impact on the resort’s workplace culture. By directly addressing concerns about staff morale and guest services, the event has laid the groundwork for a more cohesive and supportive work environment; a renewed sense of purpose; the tools, skills, and mindset to foster long-lasting improvement”.
