JLP condemns alleged ‘PNP operatives’ for fake narrative surrounding PM
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica Labour Party’s Deputy General Secretary, Charles Sinclair Jnr has chided individuals, he dubbed as operatives of the People’s National Party (PNP), for “malicious and fake content” concerning Prime Minister Andrew Holness that has been making the rounds on social media.
Sinclair in a release on Wednesday, sought to advise the public that the content was generated via Artificial Intelligence (AI) and shared that he is “not surprised that the PNP operatives have resorted to fake news in a bid to bring down the prime minister and the Government of Jamaica, which has been moving the country forward in several key sectors.”
In the audio file making the rounds, voices of individuals who appear to be international reporters, discuss the recent findings of a report from the Integrity Commission surrounding the financial affairs of the prime minister.
The matters under discussion involves over $150 million worth of transactions, with various companies, including Barita Investments and includes a US$94,000 bond. One of his sons is affiliated with one of the companies that have been mentioned.
The PNP has since called for Holness to resign, arguing that the prime minister being embroiled in an investigation for alleged illicit enrichment is a serious blot on the image of the country both locally and internationally.
But the JLP hit back, noting that the IC found no evidence for it to conclude that the prime minister illicitly enriched himself.

Sinclair, who is also an attorney-at-law, further chided the PNP, singling out the party’s Chairman, Dr Angela Brown-Burke, whom he claimed recently used to “alert over 20 global media houses to misleading and disparaging local reportage about Prime Minister Holness”, outlining that the Opposition has shown that it is “willing to besmirch Jamaica’s reputation in the international media in their desperate bid for political power.”
The Jamaica Labour Party deputy general secretary says the unbecoming conduct of the PNP and its operatives confirm that the Mark Golding-led party is “bankrupt of ideas to improve the lives of the people of Jamaica.”
