CURRENT leading female jockey Samantha Fletcher made a triumphant return to Caymanas Park on Saturday, September 28, 2024 aboard the Rowan Mathie-conditioned Lady Abhimala in the sixth race.

Fresh from international success at Century Mile Racetrack in Edmonton, Canada, where she won two races, Fletcher expertly guided
Lady Abhimala to a half-length victory over five furlongs (1,000m) straight.

The Restricted Allowance IV contest featured native-bred four-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three) and imported four-year-olds and upward (non-winners of two).

Lady Abhimala broke sharply at the start, alongside Uncle Nub (Raddesh Roman),
Aria’s Reign (Jordan Barrett), and Grey Commander (Michael Semple), showcasing her impressive speed. As the field settled after the first furlong (200m) Uncle Nub seized the lead, with Aria’s Reign and Lady Abhimala hot on his heels.

Approaching the dummy rails, Fletcher coaxed Lady Abhimala to shift gears and the chestnut filly responded with a blistering run inside the final furlong. Lady Abhimala’s momentum proved unstoppable, carrying her across the finishing line first in 1:00.0 (23.0 x 46.3). Digital Light (Tevin Foster) finished second and Uncle Nub finished third.
