Sexy Fish by DAVID NEWELL
SO2 spotlights UK-based, Rock-blooded sartorial designer David Newell, who was tapped by restaurateur Richard Caring and his design team to elevate the seafood dining experience of Sexy Fish, Miami and London with luxurious uniform designs.
Here’s what Newell shared: “Collaborating with Richard Caring and his talented design team was an extraordinary opportunity. Our collective goal was to create uniforms that not only complemented the luxurious aesthetic of Sexy Fish but, too, embodied the essence of the ocean and the rich flavours of the sea. This we achieved through impeccable tailoring and vibrant, thoughtfully designed patterns.”
The result is a stunning collection of uniforms that serve as more than mere attire — they are an extension of the restaurant’s identity. Think: vibrant colours and intricate patterns that echo the marine world. Deep blues, lush greens, and coral hues that create a visual feast that mirrors the seafood offerings, while motifs such as stylised waves and fish scales subtly reference the underwater world.
Every garment has been meticulously tailored to ensure a perfect fit, highlighting the expertise and precision for which Newell is renowned. This attention to detail ensures that the uniforms exude a sense of luxury and professionalism, elevating them far beyond conventional themed attire.
“It was imperative that these uniforms maintained a high level of sartorial elegance,” underscored Newell. “Our intention was to craft garments that made a statement — one of luxury, exclusivity, and refinement. By focusing on precise tailoring and sophisticated design, we ensured that Sexy Fish would be seen as a premier dining destination, far removed from the kitsch aesthetic often associated with themed restaurants.”
