Scotiabank’s back-to-school initiative empowering students for success
As part of its ongoing commitment to community development and in celebration of its anniversary, Scotiabank, through its philanthropic arm, Scotiabank Jamaica Foundation (SJF) has significantly expanded its support to primary school students across Jamaica.
This year, the foundation tripled its outreach, providing book vouchers and stationery supplies valued at more than $20 million to approximately 3,000 incoming Grade 6 students at 28 schools across the island. This initiative aims to ensure that these students, who are preparing for the Primary Exit Profile examinations, are well-equipped for the school year ahead.
Schools such as Ocho Rios Primary, in St Ann, and Spanish Town Primary were among the beneficiaries. The SJF also hosted a treat for students of Bull Savannah Primary School in St Elizabeth.
“At Scotiabank, we believe that investing in education is essential to the future of our country. By equipping these students with the tools they need, we are giving them a head start on the path to success,” said Yanique Forbes Patrick, vice-president, public affairs and communications, Scotiabank.
