Safe Passage takes Mayberry SuperStars Tournament
PORTLAND, Jamaica — Safe Passage sailed away with the Mayberry SuperStars of Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament Trophy on Saturday night.
The winners accumulated 2,700 points, finishing ahead of Still Keepin It Jiggy with 1,350 points and 2 Cantankerous with 900 points at the Errol Flynn Marina in Port Antonio.
Eleven Blue Marlins were released over the three-day tournament. Safe Passage accounted for six, Still Keepin It Jiggy for three, and 2 Cantankerous for two.
Chris Berry of Safe Passage was named the top male angler, while Paulette Tai Chang earned the title of top female angler.
Nine boats participated in the tournament, alongside 38 anglers, four of whom were female.
Tournament director Robert “Bobby” Stewart commented, “We had a good tournament although the weather affected us. Ultimately, nine boats participated, and we are happy. Congratulations to our winners, Safe Passage. Thanks to our sponsors and the anglers who came in early with their boats, allowing us to fish. On a per-boat basis, we did well, even exceeding last year. Thank you.”
