‘Bunny’ Shaw’s lone goal hands Man City victory over Brighton & Hove Albion
Jamaican striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw handed Manchester City a one-goal win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday. This marks Man City’s first Women’s Super League (WSL) victory of the season.
According to an article from BBC Sports, Shaw’s first-half strike, her first domestic goal of the campaign, was enough to seal victory. It is now her 75th City goal in 86 appearances for the club since signing in 2021.
“We got the job done,” Manchester City captain Alex Greenwood told BBC. “Sometimes in this league, you have to win ugly. I thought off the ball today we were better. Against Arsenal, we struggled with that at times but we have worked really hard on that, and I thought we saw an improvement in that.”
“This league is getting tougher and tougher every year, and we saw that with Brighton, it was a tough game. We take the win and the clean sheet all day,” she continued.
Shaw was last season’s WSL top scorer.
