Impressive Force seeks second win in RonRon Trophy feature
After a dazzling debut victory, three-year-old American-bred bay colt Impressive Force is primed to continue his winning streak in the $1.190-million RonRon Trophy Restricted Stakes event this afternoon.
Trained by Philip Feanny, Impressive Force faces 10 rivals in the six-furlong (1,200m) contest, open to imported three-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three) and native-bred three-year-olds and four-year-olds (non-winners of four).
On September 7, Impressive Force (Klimt – Onebadkitty) impressed with a 5 ½-length win in 1:00.0 over five furlongs (1,000m) straight, surpassing Indestructible and J Spieth. With in-form jockey Raddesh Roman aboard, Impressive Force is poised to repeat.
However, experienced challengers She’s A Godgift, Motivate Me Baby, Commander Z, and Riches to Rags threaten to spoil Impressive Force’s party.
The race is the ninth and final event of the day with a post time of 5:20 pm. First race is at high noon.
She’s A Godgift ran a brave race to finish third by 4 ¾ lengths behind Unbelievable Force and Firecracker over seven and a half furlongs (1,500m) on September 21. Based on that run, She’s A Godgift is poised for another good effort here, especially with the reduction in journey.
Motivate Me Baby finished a good second by 3 ¼ lengths behind upset winner
Riches to Rags on August 31. Motivate Me Baby has been working fairly well for this race and is expected to run well here again.
Commander Z was expected to lead home rivals on last but finished third behind
Riches to Rags and Motivate Me Baby. Commander Z has been working well since and could rebound with a win here.
Riches to Rags came home in second place by 4 ½ lengths behind stablemate Unbelievable Force over five furlongs straight on September 7. Riches to Rags can land the gambit.
Dane Dawkins and Samantha Fletcher, two of Jamaica’s finest jockeys, returned home with valuable experience and newfound confidence after their stints in Canada.
Dawkins, a former champion jockey, had ridden at Winnipeg’s Assiniboia Downs while Fletcher, the current leading female rider at Caymanas Park, had competed at Edmonton’s Century Mile. The seasons at both tracks in Canada have now ended.
As they settled back into their routine, their focus shifted to the upcoming weekend’s races at Caymanas Park. Dawkins secured four rides on today’s programme, while Fletcher has one ride.
