I-Octane on a high
Dancehall artiste I- Octane is on a high following positive reception of his two most recent tracks Hottaz and Born As A Gyalis.
The latter, which was released on September 6 on the Insects rhythm by producer Kemar “Flava” McGregor, has been recognised internationally.
“Overseas [it has] picked up traction. It a gwaan good. Yuh know a Flava that, so him aguh get it on the biggest platforms overseas. It’s in a whole heap of different play lists in different countries like Japan, Australia, Africa, and Europe,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
He explained that the track is a reminder to men to prioritise the ladies.
“I always want to remind the males that the female dem very imperative; don’t leave them out. You have a lot of beautiful females [all] over the globe who we admire, and they admire us, so it’s basically that. Keep the females inna yuh ting,” he said.
As for Hottaz, which made its début on June 14 courtesy of producer ZJ Dynond, an official music video will drop next week. The popular deejay said that the ‘streets’ have been showing massive support to the upbeat dancehall tune.
“A di girl dem song that, trust me — it play at every dance. That song has taken over our diaspora — Jamaica, Miami, UK… everywhere. That song is really creating traction right now,” he said.
The forthcoming music video was directed by Sasha “Bling Blang” Roache.
I-Octane (given name Byomie Muir) got his break more than a decade ago with his single Stab Vampire.
He is slated to perform in Atlanta and Fort Lauderdale. The deejay will also be releasing a collaboration with Nigy Boy.
