Swift action needed to restore Dinthill’s reputation
Dear Editor,
The Dinthill Technical High School (DTHS) past students are shocked, dismayed, and embarrassed by the appalling incident involving several Dinthill football players who physically assaulted a referee during a recent football match. This deplorable behaviour has brought our alma mater’s reputation into disrepute, and we wholeheartedly condemn the players’ actions.
We extend our sincerest apologies to the football fraternity and the assaulted referee. No individual deserves to be subjected to such unacceptable behaviour.
The past students are disappointed in the school board’s failure to communicate a clear plan of action to address the indiscipline and restore the school’s integrity. This incident reflects poorly not only on the players but also on the school’s administration.
As past students we are deeply troubled by the lack of transparency and decisive action from the school’s leadership, particularly from the principal, who, as a referee himself, should categorically denounce such behaviour.
We urge the principal and the school administration to take immediate and decisive action by expelling the player involved and withdrawing the football team from the competition.
We call upon the chairman of the board to intervene, taking concrete steps to:
1) Investigate the incident thoroughly
2) Implement measures to prevent future occurrences
3) Hold accountable those responsible
4) Restore DTHS’s reputation within the educational and sporting communities
As past students we are committed to upholding the values of sportsmanship, respect, and discipline that our alma mater once embodied.
We demand swift action to rectify this situation and ensure DTHS returns to its esteemed position.
