More rains expected into the weekend amid tropical wave
KINGSTON, Jamaica – More rain is in the forecast for Jamaica as a tropical wave is expected to move across the island this weekend, bringing with it periods of showers and thunderstorms.
Heavy rainfall has been affecting the island since last Saturday causing the Meteorological Service of Jamaica to extend a flash flood watch for the country. The outer bands from Hurricane Helene, which is currently approximately 560 kilometres southwest of Tampa, Florida, have been producing showers since the start of the week and are expected to continue doing so until late Thursday evening.
St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendoin, Manchester, St Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Hanover and St James are the most affected parishes.
