D’Angel soars on Reggae iTunes Chart
The “Lady of Dancehall” D’Angel is still on a high after her most recent single, Good Good Gyal, gained the pole position on the US Reggae iTunes Chart a day after its September 20 release.
“If I could jump over the moon, I would. That’s how I’m feeling right now,” she told the
Jamaica Observer.
The track, produced by King Barka Productions, has an accompanying music video. It has accumulated approximately 110,000 views on YouTube.
“Oh, my! It shows in sales that the fans are loving it. They already have it as their ring tone all across my social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, [they are] very active with the Good Good Gyal Walk Out challenge,” she said.
The entertainer further explained that the song is aimed at empowering women around the world.
“The inspiration behind the song was just to embrace women in every sector and let them know they are recognised. Oftentimes women are put down suh mi a big dem up,” she said.
Filming the music video, she said, was marked by the high level of female camaraderie she is trying to promote.
“The best part about shooting the video was when all the ladies came together for the girls’ night out scene. It felt so empowering, and that’s the same way it’s being received in the universe since the release. I’m very humbled and grateful,” D’Angel added.
The artiste is slated to perform in British Virginia, the US, Canada, and a few stints in Jamaica.
