Faith Downie finds her stride in maiden win
Faith Downie, a three-year-old bay filly bred by Soul Warrior out of the Liquidity mare Agnes, secured her maiden win on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
In her third start, she led home rivals by 1 ¾ lengths in the maiden condition race for native-bred three-year-old fillies over 5 ½-furlong (1,100m). Wearing a tongue-tie, Faith Downie made a decisive move to claim victory in a time of 1:10.4 (23.4 x 49.4 x 1:03.4).
Faith Downie, trained by Victor Williams and ridden by Raddesh Roman, burst to the front from the one draw when at the starting gates opened, setting the pace ahead of Ruby’s Light (Oshane Nugent), Malayan Queen (Paul Francis), and Chinita Estrella (Shavon Townsend) into the half-mile (800m) turn.
As they approached the final stretch, Faith Downie extended her lead and maintained a strong gallop down the straight, crossing the finish line ahead of Himaya (Robert Halledeen) and Chinita Estrella.
