Burning Hedge blazes to victory in dazzling debut
Two-year-old chestnut filly Burning Hedge (Hedge Fund – Burning Clearance) announced her arrival on the racing scene with a dominating win at the races on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
Making her career debut, the youngster pushed aside her rivals, crossing the finish line five lengths clear in the maiden special weight contest for native-bred two-year-olds.
Trained, bred, and owned by Carl Anderson, Burning Hedge showcased her speed and agility over 4 furlongs (800m), stopping the clock in a time of 48.3 seconds (24.2).
Ridden by Shane Richardson, Burning Hedge got a decent good break, then tracked the early pacesetters Danka (Raddesh Roman), Foxy (Paul Francis), and Global Pursuit (Robert Halledeen).
The trio of front-runners – Danka, Foxy, and Global Pursuit – battled for supremacy, but Burning Hedge bided her time. Crossing the dummy rails, Global Pursuit and
Danka continued to lead, but Richardson’s patience paid off. Inside the final furlong and a half (300m), he coaxed Burning Hedge into top gear.
Responding enthusiastically, Burning Hedge shot by rivals, effortlessly taking command and cruising to an easy win at the wire. Danka and Global Pursuit completed the podium, finishing second and third, respectively.
