PNP president condemns security threat on PM and family
KINGSTON, Jamaica — People’s National Party (PNP) President Mark Golding has condemned Wednesday’s security threat on Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his family which resulted in the police being dispatched to their residence on Wednesday evening.
Addressing the media at a PNP press conference Thursday morning, Golding said, “In relation to the incident that we heard about through the news last night concerning the Holnesses and their home, we absolutely abhor any such conduct. We call upon the security forces, law enforcement to investigate it thoroughly and if there are any perpetrators to bring them to justice.”
The PNP president also extended his personal sympathies to the prime minister and his family.
There was a heightened police presence outside the prime minister’s home on Wednesday due to what the Jamaica Constabulary Force described as a legitimate security threat to the household.
The police, however, said swift and effective action by officers successfully repelled this threat but did not reveal details about the threat.
