Binghi Blaze bats for unity with ‘People of The World’
On People of The World, his latest song, roots singer Binghi Blaze highlights global tension and calls for unity to end conflicts in the Middle East, and between Russia and Ukraine.
The song is produced by Dennis “Jah D” Fearon, a veteran pianist with whom Binghi Blaze has collaborated over the last five years. Guitarist Eugene Grey, another respected musician, also played on the track.
Binghi Blaze said he went for musicians who could deliver the authentic roots-reggae sound, while giving People of The World a contemporary feel.
“We brought in Eugene Grey, the iconic guitar player along with Jah D to really create that sound, but still within the Rastaman vibration which we strive to maintain in all the arrangements that is the true highlight of roots-reggae,” said the Florida-based artiste.
Determined to find a diverse audience, Binghi Blaze credits Grey’s Ernie Ranglin-influenced jazz riffs for giving People of The World an international flavour.
In recent years, Binghi Blaze (born Gary Williams) has worked mainly with Fearon whose career as a session musician started during the 1960s. They worked extensively on Rastalution, the singer’s lone album to date.
Originally from Manchester, he started out playing drums in his family’s church in that parish. Binghi Blaze is scheduled to perform on Suga Reggae Fest in Fort Myers, Florida on October 27.
